Re: Update on the Temporary Traffic Adjustments for High Street at Sullivan Lane (September 17 through October 5)
As we all know, in addition to benefits of campus greening and beautification, a primary objective of the Quad project is enhanced pedestrian safety on-campus, including creating new crosswalks. The planned construction work for one of the next parts of the project necessitates temporarily turning a section of High Street at the Sullivan Lane curve into a one-way roadway beginning next Monday, September 17, until Friday, October 5. The section of High Street from just west of the entrance to the Markle parking deck to the curved intersection at Sullivan Lane and South College Drive will be “one-way only” (heading from Markle Hall towards Kunkle Hall) to all vehicular traffic during this 3-week period. All traffic heading northbound on Sullivan Lane, from the Sullivan parking deck towards Hugel Hall for example, will need to detour and make a right turn onto South College Drive. Vehicular access to High Street and the northern part of campus coming up from Sullivan Lane will not be possible. Please plan accordingly.
During the High Street one-way traffic phase, pedestrian traffic will still be able to move through the areas near the site through the pedestrian walkways. Also, the parking lot behind Skillman Library will still be accessible from Sullivan Lane.
Please be assured that emergency vehicles will continue to have full access to the entire campus during all phases of the renovation project.
Recognizing that temporarily altering a section of High Street to one-way (westbound) traffic only for approximately three weeks is inconvenient, we wanted to inform the campus community of this routing adjustment such that an alternative route can be planned in advance or for allowing additional time when driving in and around the campus.
Thank you for your cooperation.
