Allan P. Kirby Sports Center Facade Replacement and Pedestrian Safety renovation project

(Updated May 2025) — The north facade of Kirby Sports Center and the Pierce Street entrance will be renovated in summer 2025 to address damage and deferred maintenance issues, upgrade pedestrian safety features, improve exterior lighting, and add a new feature canopy and box office.

This project will involve temporary road closures and parking restrictions. In an effort to minimize impact for employees, students, neighbors, and visitors, work will begin after Commencement, and will be timed to coincide with interior renovation projects. 

Thank you for your patience as the College works with the City of Easton to enhance the safety of this important access point. Updates will continue to be shared throughout the project.

May 27-June 5:

• Pierce Street will close to traffic, parking, and pedestrians (from Hamilton Street to Coleman Street) as facade work begins. Work is scheduled 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• The Pierce Street entrance of Kirby Sports Center will close as flooring is replaced in the lobby and arena. This entrance will remain closed through Aug. 22.
• Employees assigned to park in the lots near Kirby Sports Center will receive additional details from Public Safety on an alternate parking location.

June 5-Aug. 22:

• Pierce Street (from Hamilton Street to Coleman Street) is slated to reopen to traffic. A temporary pedestrian walkway will be constructed. On-street parking will not be available.
• The Pierce Street entrance of Kirby Sports Center will remain closed as flooring is replaced in the lobby and arena.
• Pedestrian safety upgrades will be added to Pierce Street.

Entrances and access May 27-Aug. 22:

• Alternate entrances: Faculty, staff, students, and visitors looking to access the Rec Center or Weinstein Natatorium should use Gate 2 (Markle Parking Deck) or Gate 3 (McCracken Gate) to access the Fisher Stadium entrance of Kirby Sports Center, and follow interior signage.
• Accessibility: Temporary handicap accessible parking spaces will be added on Hamilton Street in front of Kirby Sports Center. Visitors should then proceed through Gate 3 entrance gate on Hamilton Street and enter the facility via the doorway behind the ticket booth which will allow access to the elevator.
• Box office access: Football season tickets are now on sale. Please use the Fisher Stadium entrance (Gate 2) for all ticket sales. The ticket office is located in the lobby upon entry into Kirby Sports Center. Tickets can also be purchased online.
• Parking: Visitors to Kirby Sports Center and Weinstein Natatorium should park in Markle Parking Deck.
